question...

lately I've been thinking about joining Weight Watchers - I laughed when I wrote this because I truly have turned into my mother - because I have these 10 stubborn pounds that I want nothing more than to LOSE by summer time. so, I'm asking Brad if he cares if I pay the $50-some dollars for a 3 month membership on the Weight Watchers website (yes, I ask my husband his opinion about spending larger amts of money and I think more women should probably do the same) and he shrugs and says, "What does the website do?"

I start explaining to him the point system and how I can go on the website to track the points I've ate for every day. He goes, "You need to pay $53 to write down on a website how much you're eating?"

Okay, I think he has a point. And I started thinking, this is Weight Watchers. Surely you can buy a book or go to a website that tells you how many points a banana is. Or a FiberOne bar [my new fave snack!]. So....that leads me to the question:

Does anybody know where to get Weight Watchers but for a lot cheaper than $50+?

and for reference, here are 2 pictures - the top one being LESS 10 annoying pounds (those jeans? yep, they're in my closet collecting dust right now cause they'll barely zip!) and the bottom picture (w/ my sister-in-law, MIL, myself and Brad's aunt) being PLUS 10 annoying lbs!

Well Seanna..i got a small food scale and a calorie book (total: $15) and since Oct I have lost 20 pounds. All i do is count calories. 1200-1500 a day. The weight watchers system is based off calories i think is approx 50cals= 1 point? Good old fashion will power.

I track my eating at Sparkpeople.com - it sets up a range of calories/fat/carbs/protein you should be eating each day and you can track all your meals using it - and it's free. I recommend checking it out!

There's an app for that...

Lol Annie :)

Do you have an iPod touch? If so, there's a free app called "Lose it!" and it tells you how many calories you need to eat per day to lose the weight you want to, and you can track what you eat on there.

Hopefully they'll announce that the iPhone is available on Verizon today, and you can just get the iPhone app! Everything I had been ready said it wouldn't happen until mid-year, but now I'm reading that it's possible today!

You can purchase Weight Watchers literature from eBay or somewhere similar too if you want a one-time price commitment. Or, just ask someone who has done WW what the formula is (it's something like 50 cal=1 point, but for every 4 grams of fiber you can subtract a point).

www.sparkpeople.com. That's how I did the first 30 lbs. Free! Tedious work to chart eating, no matter how you do it. And a food scale is a must!
