for the love

it has been WAY too long since i've posted! to all 12 of you that occasionally read my blog, i'm sorry :) i don't really have a good reason, so i'll just jump right into sharing what's been going on it our lives lately!

1.) MARRIAGE - [AKA getting to finally live together but Seanna cleaning/cooking/working a million times more than before]
i kid, i kid....sort of! married life is absolutely fantastic, and i wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Brad and i didn't live together until we were married, so it's been an adjustment having to get used to cleaning up for two people, doing laundry for two people, paying bills for two people...it's a lot of work. but it's getting easier for me to manage. can't even begin to imagine how much kids add to the workload - and LORD KNOWS i will never be able to handle being a working mom! i seriously don't know how some women do it...work all day, go home and work at home..i give working moms a ton of credit! - but that's why we're waiting two years before we start trying for kids.

2.) WORK
i could seriously go on forever about work, cause i've had tons of drama with my job! but it's finally all settled down. first, Brad - he's still subcontracting for his dad and doing a lot of building on the side. for those of you that don't know, his dad owns a log home construction company [he builds THESE kind of homes - beautiful, million dollar homes that are usually on a lake somewhere] and on the side, Brad builds furniture using either logs or reclaimed timber [which is unbelieveably gorgeous, i love my reclaimed timber side table!!]. i cannot say enough how BLESSED we are, because so, so many contractors [home builders] in this area are out of work right now, because who can afford to build a first home, much less a second home? [the market in this area is primarily second homes...lake cabins/homes] but Brad's dad has had an abundance of work, and so has Brad. we're very, very thankful.
as for me...i work at a bank, and until [literally] the day i got back from my honeymoon, i was a teller supervisor at said bank. unfortunately, the whole time i was in the position i wasn't happy with it. i don't really care for management, and i think i talked myself into it because 1) the paycheck was amazing, 2) the benefits were amazing and 3) i think i really believed i wanted to be in management. BUT, i sure did not want to be. i know i didn't do a good job, but all i have to say is...that position has had SEVEN supervisors in 5 years, and i know there's a reason why people don't stay in it. and i don't necessarily think it's all to be blamed on the supervisor. but that's neither here nor there...
so the day after we got back from our honeymoon, i found out some HUGE drama occurred while i was gone with the tellers and myself, and so i flat out told my boss i wasn't happy in the job, and i knew i couldn't stay in it. that afternoon, they offered me a position as a banker, and i accepted that same day. and i haven't looked back once. i love my new job so, so much. i spend my days opening and closing accounts, starting to do IRA's, will do loans beginning next month. it's a great fit for me, and i couldn't be happier with my decision. it was a pretty big paycut, but i didn't even care about that since you just can't put a pricetag on your happiness.

3.) EVERYTHING ELSE
yes, life these days consists of work and marriage :) but it's good. Brad and i are really, truly living the sweet, simple life i've dreamed of for years. we sometimes make it down to Minneapolis to visit friends, or we go up north to Duluth, a port city on Lake Superior. i'm in a workout class that meets once a week and focuses on your core - it's a tough workout, but i love the instructor and how good i feel afterwards! i've got a few good girlfriends here and i'm slowly meeting new people. we spend a lot of time with Brad's family, and Brad's brothers come over once a week to watch "Sons of Anarchy" [which is a violent show that i am slowly getting sucked into...] i took photos last week with my photographer, Kelly, in my wedding dress. kind of a "Trash the Dress" session. they turned out beautifully, maybe i'll put some up on here next time :)

well, that's our life these days! now i feel like i can jump right in with things when i post. hope everyone enjoys their Thursday...it's almost Friday, which means it's almost the weekend!!

i'm glad that you've got a job you like better. Management takes its toll...(or so I see via Mike). Do what you love, the rest will fall into place.

That sounds like our life: Man Builds Timberframe/Log Homes, Woman works job she likes until having kids. All occurring in beautiful rural setting.

Are you going to build a house soon?

We're looking at buy land for that right now.
